Hiking Trips Itinerary
Day 1: Travel Day
In the morning, you will meet one of our pilots in Smithers and travel via floatplane or wheel plane to the main lodge at Black Lake. There, you will have a gourmet lunch prepared by our chef before your introduction to camp and gear. After you have selected your dried food for the trip and picked up any specialty gear you may have missed, you can kick your feet up and relax before dinner. Enjoy canoeing and fishing, and relax in our wood-fired sauna or hot tub before dinner. After another wonderful meal, you will pour over maps at the lodge of your intended route with your guide and make any personal modifications you would like.
Day 2-8: Trekking Days
After an early breakfast, you will fly out to a remote lake, which will be the starting point of your adventure!
Day 9: Back to the Black Lake
You will need to be at your pickup location, where a float plane will meet you in the afternoon. You will fly back to the main lodge and have an opportunity to relax and kick up your feet (guaranteed they will be sore!) All camp amenities are open to you- if you still have the energy, feel free to go for a swim or coax a wrangler into giving you a quick trail ride on one of our trusty horses around camp. Enjoy a wonderful meal in the evening and sit in the hot tub, enjoying the canopy of stars up above.
Day 10: Back to Smithers
After brunch, you will board a float plane and return to Smithers – where you can catch your connecting flight – or we will book another night in a hotel.
What You Can Expect

Each night offers a chance to gaze up at an expansive canopy of stars, accompanied by the serene sounds of the wilderness. Listen for the occasional wolf howl echoing through the valleys, and don't hesitate to ask your guides to teach you how to respond! As you traverse the traditional travel routes of the First Nation peoples, our guides will regale you with many local stories and legends. You'll witness the landscape in its pristine, timeless state. Arrive as guests and depart as fellow travellers, forever touched by the splendour of this unspoiled wilderness.

Food/Meals
Here at NBC Adventures, we believe that food is the first step in friendship and comradery; we make every effort to ensure high-quality, tasty, and unique foods are served throughout your stay with us! At the main lodge, you will experience a relaxing setting while our chef prepares local delicacies and a menu catered specifically to you and your trip! Wild edibles and in-season local plants comprise as much of the menu as possible. While travelling overland, you will carry most of your food on your back. Except for an airplane food drop containing a freshly baked pie at the mid-way point! Freeze-dried food will be specially prepared by our chef on-site, and various tasty options will be available (inquire here for menu options) – custom-made food will be available upon request, with adequate notice. There is no commercial mountain house on this trip! A large variety of organic, keto/paleo-friendly, and vegan granola bars and dried fruits will be available at the lodge. Your guide will show you how to identify local forage plants, and you can eat fresh edibles along the trail.
